Racked by poverty, Jobo and his wife Lupe cannot afford medicine for their seven year-old daughter, who suffers from cancer. Desperate, Jobo steals a valuable painting of Santa Úrsula from a church. While he escapes, he stumbles upon Carlos, a university professor taking pictures of the convent. A priest runs out onto the street announcing the robbery, and Jobo points the finger at Carlos.
